It seems the waves of tsunami are engulfing the Japanese automobile companies’ Indian arm. While Honda and Toyota have officially confirmed that they have postponed indefinitely their celebration plans, its compatriots are about to take a call on its course of actions. Honda Siel Cars India, the carmaking of Honda Motor Company, has announced that it has deferred the preview of its made-for-India small car Brio in the wake of the calamity. The company said in a statement, “In light of the recent devastating earthquake that hit Japan causing massive damage to life and property, Honda Siel Cars India has postponed the Honda Brio India Preview event scheduled to be held on 17th March 2011 at The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Honda Siel Cars India extends heartfelt condolences to all those who have suffered or lost their near and dear ones in this tragic disaster and stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Japan.” Likewise, Toyota has announced the postponement of the 2nd Plant grand opening ceremony of Toyota Kirloskar scheduled for Tuesday, 15th March'11 in Bidadi near Bangalore due to the Tsunami and Earthquake in Japan. “A tragic disaster of great proportion has overtaken Japan when a powerful earthquake followed by a tsunami struck northeast Japan rendering millions of people homeless, and at this point in time, a large number of people have been reported dead," stated a release from TKM. The release added, "We wish to advise that most of the plants of Toyota Motor Corporation are not affected at this point in time. We are, however, assessing the extent of damage to operations of our affiliates, dealer partners and supplier partners located in the affected areas.TKM operations have not been affected. Toyota Motor Corporation has constituted a task force to monitor the situation and take initial measures. All TKM employees working in Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, are safe," the release added.
